Magic With Me: Clow Sorcery Part Six

Welcome back my Dear Readers,

We’re taking a break from our regularly scheduled Nonsense to get back on some of the Clow Sorcery Series. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I have found that having an actual, factual, day job does take up a considerable amount of time. So, with suitable gnashing of the teeth, I do apologize for being a few hours late with my post. But, instead of indulging in valueless self flagellation and promises that I promise you I could not keep, let us get ahead into the meat of this.

Timing

When I checked my records, I did note that this capture took place around Mid November of 2024, so we are starting to slowly catch up to present day. I did have to put my quest on hold during this entire health disaster. But, I can’t imagine the spirits would be too put out about that. After all, you can’t make friends with spirits nearly as easy if you’re dead.

As per usual, I used the card questing spread made by Brave here.

1: Where I am at:
Virgo is an interesting card. That is actually my moon sign, and this deck ascribes Virgo to a sense of stability–but at the risk of stagnancy. The figure is very stable and holds a sheaf of wheat. But, they are also completely at rest.

2: What needs to change:
Aries is an interesting one. This card has far more energy upside down, because it looks like it’s about to just tumble. Aries reversed could be seen as negative aspects–so rash behavior. Whims that lead to nothing, or chasing rabbits down a hole and burning out.

3: What state I end the quest in:

The light is particularly interesting here because it looks like Clow Reed’s initial mahoujin. Light illuminates, but it also casts shadow. This can also be seen as limitless possibility, according to the deck guide.

4: How to capture The Mirror:
And Phases is interesting to me in that it’s upside down. Again, I’m not sure if this deck is meant to be read with reversals. It could possibly be that reversals could be read as something that is lacking, or needs to be changed.

My worries with this spread and these cards would be that I’m essentially being told to stop being impulsive and just stick to one plan–and that Phases is an inherent comment on once again needing to reject phases and be one solid thing. But, that feels more like my own emotional damage/trauma than the actual reading. It could instead mean that I’m lacking in a quality of genesis in that I’m not moving in a natural phase/I’m not making room for new things and just ‘going with the vibe’.

I could also read the moth facing downwards as it dying–meaning that something old has to go.

Divination on that interpretation gave a ‘mixed’ result of 1 up 1 down.

Capturing The Mirror

It took several days to figure out something was not quite right. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that The Mirror was using its power to distort the ‘reflection’ of my divinations. Then, I used The Cloud to obscure The Mirror, and The Lock to capture it. This was an interesting one, since I had been prepared for a lot more ‘work’ to be done. And that is definitely an issue of the way my personal biases tend towards.

It always surprises me when things go so ‘simply.’ Those of you who do work with the Clow, what was your experience with The Mirror? Those of you who don’t work with the Clow, how do you think your quest would go?
